Friday: The Ware Center, Lancaster

May’s First Friday festivities will include three artwork displays, two violinists, a lobby singer and a beauty demonstration by Lancôme.

Artwork will be on display with the Bachelor of Fine Arts Student Exhibit, with the works of fall 2011 and spring 2012 graduates of Millersville University’s Art & Design Program; the MU Graphic and Interactive Design Students Exhibit, focusing on student portfolios; and the School District of Lancaster 2012 Spring Art Show, highlighting the artwork of the region’s best high school artists.

The Millersville University Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. will perform with violinists Vitaly and Vera Volchansky in Steinman Hall. For tickets, click here.

Musician Adam Blessing will perform jazzy folk songs accompanied by his guitar in Lyet Lobby. His musical inspirations range from Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles to Paul Simon and Sting.

A Lancôme expert also will be offering beauty advice in the lobby. Samples and discount coupons will be given out.

First Friday is from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wine Festival in Hershey

Friday: Giant Center, Derry Township

Two distinctive wine tastings feature 100 vintners from around the world.

The Grand Tasting features wine tastings along with special introductions by the winemakers. This tasting is 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The VIP Tasting provides exclusive access to winemakers, including premier wines from their select vineyards. This tasting is 5-6:30 p.m. and includes the Grand Tasting.

Both tastings benefit the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

Opening Night: Lancaster Barnstormers baseball May 1 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Three Sopranos: May 3 at the Ware Center. The Ware Center, Millersville University Lancaster will host an end-of-the-season concert by well-known Lancaster sopranos Katie Wieand, Jessica Weidman and Amy Yovanovich.
